Leon County Circuit Judge Angela Dempsey was called on the carpet by the Florida Supreme Court today for improperly using the word "re-elect" in a 2008 campaign Internet posting and padding her legal resume.
The Judicial Qualifications Commission had recommended a formal reprimand.
Although her campaign consultant posted a YouTube video with "re-elect" in its title and a mail piece that said she had 20 years of legal experience, the court said Dempsey was responsible for all actions of her campaign.

She was appointed to the bench in 2005, so the race was her first election. Also, the JQC said, she was admitted to the bar in 1994, so a 20-year span would have included time she was in law school.
The court said Dempsey "apologized for her improper conduct and accepted the public reprimand as recommended" by the JQC. The justices approved the recommendation and ordered her to appear before the court for a reprimand at a date to be set by the court clerk.
